Just After Sunset: Stories by Stephen King

This was another book of short stories from my favorite guy!
I felt ripped off because two of the stories I had purchased previously on audio.
The OCD story made me agree with the people who have told me that I too have OCD. (You know who you are!) Sometimes I just have to do certain things or the world will end, Mine anyhow.

I loved the 9/11 story the best.

Free Bird by Greg Garrett

I loved LOVED this book. It made me laugh out loud & cry in public.
You've got to read it! You have to meet the farting dog. (That dog reminds me of my new stinky Bella!)
My favorite part & quote from this book are:

The Book Hawaii

By James A. Michener.

I finally finished this book. It has taken me most of the summer.

I did enjoy it. It was basically the history of Hawaii from the time it was born. (He covered eons!)

He used many truths & facts in this book. It makes you wonder how things could have been done differently.

Fast Read.

In Odd We Trust by Dean Koontz.
This was very different for me. This was basically a comic book. Alright the technical term is a "Graphic Novel".
Whatever you want to call it.....it was my first read of such a book. It was fast & sweet.
Mr. Koontz puts some nice little tid bits at the end to help with the mystery that is Odd.

This book was just ok for me. I did not hate it , but I just don't think it was my cup of tea.

Finally finished this one!

Fredrik Pohl

I started this book last summer. It was from a pile of hand me downs. This is the book I took with me on my trip to RI. I tried to read it on the plane but the view out the window & excitement of my trip kept pulling me out of the book. I even took it to the beach with me....I don't think I read one damn word of it there LOL. Although I may have tried or at least looked like I tried :)
After I got back I set Narabedla aside for Stephen King, & other authors that tickle me more.
Even with all that setting aside this little book was very very good! Once I set my mind to get into it :P
It was very thought provoking. It sent off all kinds off what if bells in my head.

Harry Potter is finished.

It's all over there is no more. Halfway through the book I wanted to stop I couldn't take anymore & I still did not want the story to end.
I was happy with the ending though. I think all the loose ends were tied up.
Now we can all wait & see how the movies will stack up.

I finished this book, it took my a while to absorb. It was a very deep thinking book. I have a hard time with some of it but embrace most of it. I know it has changed my attitude:)

Poignant paragraph....

In the book I'm reading. Change your thoughts change your life.
Reflect upon how the gentle water compares to the solid stone & marble it's capable of carving through. The soft water overrides hardness-deep valleys surrounded by mountains of granite have been carved away over the centuries by the patient, quiet, moving liquid. Imagine being able to enter where no space appears to be available, & to move slowly, speaking seldom & allowing yourself to be harmoniously intact as you seek a lower, less noisy & noticeable place.......a place where all others desire to come to you. This is the watercourse way.
It also speaks of control or rather giving up complete control. Take your heart for example. It beats without any interference from you, no conscious thought goes into it's being & working. Trying to control your heartbeat would be a futile effort. Just be!

Books book & more books

Harry Potter & The half Blood Prince, is number six in the series. One more book to go. Holy crap they are getting good! This one made me cry:( I was not expecting the things that are going on.
I have two books to read before I start the last Harry Potter. I know I should just dive right into it, but I'm not sure that I want it to end & I'm not sure I'm ready for more sad stuff.

I have just started Duma Key by Stephen King.

Dean Koontz

THE DARKEST EVENING OF THE YEAR:

This was a sweet escape. I love how he describes loving dogs. Koontz really makes me intimate with his characters. I like that. it was a fast breezy read.


I started Harry 6, the same day I finished the above:)

I've just started Dean Koontz, The Darkest Evening of the year. I love how much wit & banter he allows his characters. His books are always a joy too read.

I finally finished the book I've been reading.

I have struggled with this book, It has taken me forever to finish. It was a very complex read. It was also another cliff hanger. I will read book 3, Against All Things, when it comes out. Maybe my attention span will be better by then.

I can't wait to start the next Harry Potter!















In other news there was some nice sunshine this morning.
I was able to obtain Guitar Hero 2, Which so far for me is easier then GH3. I was able to trade in the extra GH3 I had from the controller conundrum. I also got Oblivion which is very neat.
