There are several different Mp3 players. The top competitors are IPOD & Zune. Zune/Microsoft (Evil money grubbing empire!) Zune is what I have. One of the reasons I got Zune & not Ipod was becuase Itunes made me mad when I would download song & not be able to play them with anything other than the Itunes, Media player won't play Itunes.
So I keep a list of songs that I hear that I like & will download when I get a pile. Zune has a nice selection of songs but they did not have some of the really good ones that I wanted. I love love Yahoo music (which used to be Musicmatch.). I split it up I got what I could with my funny little points you get from Microsoft (which btw you can use to buy games for XBOX also).
I'm all for one stop shopping! But If you don't have what I want I'm going elsewhere.
The songs I bought from Yahoo....Well Guess what? They would not play in my Zune! *GRRRRR* It took me literally hours (maybe if I paid for the full version of Media Monkey it would not have taken me so long to fix) to burn the songs onto a CD. Then rip the songs off the CD back into my music library. Now the songs are missing the pretty pictures & title song information.
It is so frustrating. (Same thing with the HDDVD vs. Blu-ray).
HD DVD and Blu-ray battle for dominance
By Beth Boehne
There is a high definition battle between DVD and Blu-ray. Whoever wins will be the industry standard.
Many people are waiting to buy a high-def movie player until the score is settled.
The battle for the next generation of home movie viewing may have passed its tipping point — with Blu-ray taking a sudden, huge lead over rival HD DVD.
Warner Brothers Entertainment announced January 4 it would stop producing high definition films on HD DVD and release them exclusively on Blu-ray.
Market analysts at the NPD group say in the ensuing week, stand-alone Blu-ray players outsold similar HD DVD players 9-1 in the United States.
In 2007, each format owned about half the market. They need to make everything compatible. There needs to be a revolution, A new world order. What ever happened to the customer needs to be happy?
NOPE All about green stuff, Money.
