30Gb Zune Players Appear to Have a Nearly Universal Lock Up Problem

Microsoft's Zune media player was touted as the software giant's answer to the iPod. It achieved modest popularity, but nothing like the iPod's broad usage.

Zune has locked up with the end of 2008. The Zune problems don't seem to extend to other models with different size hard drives or to flash memory based Zune problems.

Zune's Locked Up Starting at Midnight

Meanwhile, if your Zune is frozen, there is no sense in troubleshooting or trying to reset your Zune. The nearly universal nature of the problem suggests a code error on the part of the Zune development team. Zune problems began showing up on various message boards overnight shortly after midnight. Messages like "Zune locked up, help!" and Zune frozen. How can I unlock my Zune?" have been multiplying all over the web since then.

Microsoft's Response to the Zune Frozen Problem

Zune owners will likely have an answer from Microsoft before too long. Whether a Zune reset and a Zune software update will unbrick the now useless players or a complete replacement will be needed remains to be seen. Microsoft's Zune support site, Zune.net, is asking owners of frozen Zune players to be patient with this message: "Customers with 30gb Zune devices may experience issues when booting their Zune hardware. We're aware of the problem and are working to correct it. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience!"

Zune Lock Up Problem Specifics

The problem seems to be that the 30Gb Zune players attempt to reboot themselves and then freeze up completely when the reboot reaches 100%. According to user Zoa 342 on the Zune.net forums, the hard drive keeps spinning in reboot mode until the battery dies. Even though the majority of the Zune problems are affecting older Zune models, it's hard to believe that Microsoft won't make good even for those Zunes that are out of warranty.

I liked this. I did not think I was going to but I did.

Christmas 2008

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
Hubby & I took the girls up to Saginaw to Hubby's parents house.
The drive up was treacherous. We witnessed several cars in the ditch & upside down to boot. We almost joined the ditch doomed. We slid in & out of both lanes out of control. We were lucky there were no vehicles beside us. Hubby came out of the slide without us going in the ditch or flipping, but we were very shaken after that. We slowed it way down & added 2 hours to our trip.
We took Bella & Zoie to Pets Smart. That was fun! The girls were so good!!!!!! They did not have any accidents at all. I'm so proud of them.
We had a wonderful time with family.
We arrived home today to ICE & lots of it. Our driveway is such a mess, if it does not melt in the warm up we are getting (It is going to be 60 degrees!) we will never be able to get out of our garage. The metal roof dumped 50 pounds of snow & ice on the area that the dogs go outside. I'm very glad that they weren't home when that happened. Stuff has still been falling off the roof. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow of the broken bushes.
It is awesome being back home!!!!!

Happiness is.....

Coming home to a clean non-smelly dog. I was so happy tonight! The first night in four.
I am paying very close attention to food intake. I'm sure that Bella was eating some of Zoie's portions of food.

Another Poopy mess

It's is a pretty icky mess to be cleaning up every night after a day working my butt off.
How do you teach a "puppy mill" dog it is not cool to potty in your sleeping area.
She is pooping four times a day. That is not right. To many cookies?

I got the powder to mix in her food to make poop taste bad:)
This is just odd....we went through all of this with Zoie as a puppy.

Bella fits in wonderful with our family. I think her & Zoie are related somehow.
Bella has a fetish with poop right now.....she likes to eat it
They make a powder to mix in their food that makes poop taste bad. Zoie went through this as a puppy. Counting the accidents that she has had (One involving paw painting with poop in her crate!) I still think she is doing awesome & learning fast.
She did give Zoie her cold. Now everyone in this house has had this nasty cold! Bella had antibiotics for her cold, I'll have to get some for Zoie.

Bella has gained weight fast, she loves food.

She loves me to death....I keep tripping over her, she does not like it when she can't see me or be near me.

Our Rescue Dog

I'd like to introduce to you all the new edition to our family.
Ta Da! Here's Bella!

Bella is a puppy mill survivor. This means that she has spent her one & a half years in cage. She may have even had a litter of puppies


I had to give her a bath straight off. She had crap caked on her huge paws.

She is all legs this one She is timid. She has played well with Zoie. Although she niped at Zoie for not much while she was trying to sleep. (A bit like me there LOL)
They say she is a Yorkshire Terrier but I think she's mixed with Doberman or Schnauzer.

Bella is skin & bones. I hope to fatten her up. I hope to get her to trust & love.
I found Bella through a search on the internet. There are plenty more where Bella came from. If anyone can open their hearts & home please do.
I was turned down last year & was not expecting to get approved. I was pleasantly surprised!

OPEN ENROLLMENT -- COURSE ADDITION

SOC 435 -- Woo and You: A Study of Woo Girls in their Natural Habitats

Course Objective: For students to gain a greater knowledge and insight into the species of Woo Girl and their various breeds and types. Course will be hands on/pants off and focus specifically on Woo Girl haunts such as Mardi Gras, Western Themed Bars, and Spring Break. At the end of the ten week session, students are expected to have thorough and exhaustive knowledge of Woo Girl culture and mating rituals.

Prerequisites: Students shall have successfully passed both CGR 105 (An Introduction To Cougars) and ADV BRST 235 (Differential Equations and Matrix Algebra of Breasts.) Enrollment is limited to upper classmen only.

Class Schedule:

Week 1: WHAT IS A WOO?

An overview of Woous Normalus and their place in history, society, and mythology. Special guest lecturer: 3-time Wet T-shirt champion Tara Collins.

Week 2: THE CALL OF THE WOO

An in-depth look at the mating call. In the laboratory, students will master both the tonal aspects and wavelength duration of a Woo call. Later, during advanced fieldwork, students will attempt to infiltrate a pack of Woo girls, observe them in their native environments, and record and submit the phone numbers of any hot ones.

Week 3: THE BEAD INDUSTRY

The symbiotic relationship between young, impressionable women and shiny round objects on strings. We will examine both the micro and macro economics of Wooing.

Week 4: SUB-SPECIES OF WOO

Woous Vegasus, Woous PanamaCityus, and Woous SouthPadreus. We will explore their differences and similarities as well as their journey from Daddy’s Little Girl to Bad Relationships, and how the Discovery of Madori affects this evolution.

Week 5: MOVIE NIGHT

In what has traditionally been a popular lecture, students will analyze and deconstruct a collection of Girls Gone Wild DVD’s.

Week 6: WOO GIRLS AT THE WORKPLACE

An analysis of Woo Girl professionals. Lecture will focus through a historical lens, highlighting Woo girls in the workplace from the early days of aviation hospitality to present day pharmaceutical sales.

Week 7: FIELD TRIP TO MARDI GRAS

Students will observe the highest Holy Day of Woo, in the Wooiest City in the World.

Week 8: ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Students present theses prepared over this intensive two month course. Suggested topics include: The Seasons of Woo, The Origins of Woo, and Woos in World War II.

Zoie & Food

My little freak Zoie has treated her food luke warm since she came to live with us. Royal Canin was what she was raised on. She would eat her bowl empty then leave it for a couple days at a time. This pattern has gotten worse in the last few months.
The girl can't live on cookies.
I tried some Halo dog food (The company Ellen bought). So I had two bowls of food sitting out. She could would eat both bowls at once then leave the bowls sitting full of food for days.
I noticed that when we went to her BFF's she would go straight to Hattie's food bowel & eat like I did not feed her.
Her tummy has been upset this weekend. She has not had many kibbles. So I went to the Vet's & got a bag of Hill's Science Diet.
Right out of the bag she loved it. I hope she keeps liking it.

Another Rock Band Night

I did not get to take many pictures or did I get any million dollar video. We were too busy rockin out. We had a blast.

I let the band try GHWT. The consensus is that Rock Band is still a better game.
The GHWT band is called Lead Singers Disease.

How Much is Too Much?

Today I worked in a three person team with two brake presses & a little special tab former.
This cell is designated for a one customer's special parts.
I know it was my first day on this & I have some PMS going on but I was ready to cry by the end of the day.
I know our company has rate high so they can make money but holy hell!
How hard do you push your employees? Do manufacturers way the high rate against workers bodies just plain giving out?
I know in a week of doing that particular job my body would be more used to it.
I was so tired that I became a safety hazard to myself. I sliced through a glove early in the day to slice my finger, then I almost cut my neck flipping a part & my hand slipping, Then I flipped a part hitting the machine, the part bounced back & I caught it with my midsection. Lucky for me I only have red marks & not cuts. (I've always had clumsy bad luck....I've always said if there is a way to get hurt...I'll find it:()
I've been having problems with my hands falling asleep since I've been back in production. This job has my wrists/fingers/joints throbbing with pain. Motrin is my friend!

Why is it that these hardest busting ass jobs pay the least amount of money?

Freakin Awesome

I did get Guitar Hero Wolrd Tour for my birthday! My drums were broke right out of the box. I sent them back last week.
Last night my guitar started acting up....I think it is the strum bar but I can't say for sure as I was testing it this morning it started to work just fine
There are many reports of instruments not working.....................Aside from the hardware the software is awesome!
The graphics rock on this game at every encore they have the avatar of the rocker who sang that song.(If you look you can even see a coon tail hanging off the back of Ted's jeans. LOL) The guitar duels against the "Bosses" are different but not unpleasant.
There are new elements added with the slider on the guitar & the cymbals on the drums. They even have an open note for the bass player which shows up as a bar across the fret.
You can make your own music & download & play music others have made. Character creation is intense.

The main reason I bought this game is this................

Stranglehold

I've always said they need this song on one of these games. I'm disappointed though because Ted was not the original lead on this.I like Derek St. Holmes singing this. He puts the emotion into the song.
"Stranglehold" is a single and the first track from Ted Nugent's self-titled 1975 album. The vocals are performed not by Nugent, but by Derek St. Holmes.

Nugent didn't sing lead on this. Derek St. Holmes, vocalist with his band, did. Nugent resented the attention Holmes received on stage and eventually sang all the hits himself.

Nugent claims the misogynist, violent lyrics were part of his act and should not be taken literally. This did not make women's groups feel any better.

Rolling R's

This week to break the monotany we asked a Spanish speaking co-worker to teach us some spanish.
It is fun, I like how the words roll & sound.
On Tuesday she taught us perro which is dog. She really rolled her R's on this word. It was at this moment I found out that I am Spanish disabled, I can't roll my R's.
She told me that everyone can do it. It takes practice. I practiced all day Wednesday to no avail.
I googled this, thinking that I would find that some people just can't Trill.
Instead I found a Wiki on How to roll your R's.
I practiced these techniques on the way to work this morning. I was surprised & excited when my tongue started vibrating against the roof of my mouth.
I will keep practicing because the Trill does not come easy to me. I seem to be forcing too much air.
